I can understand why Roman and others were so skeptical of Jack's wanting to help Steve find Kayla after everything that Jack had done in the past to them, but this also showed how the writers back then truly knew how to write a true redemption of a character. Jack wasn't redeemed overnight and therefore it made it believable unlike today when characters are redeemed seemingly overnight.
good point, it truely is overnight these days and it's unbelievable as well as annoying. Jack had to work really hard for a long time to get his redemption. Some of the redemption even seem to fall flat when they occur on the show now, there's not much sincerity behind it and we'll even see the character go back to their old ways again at the drop of a hat.
