I painted this painting from a photograph I took at a friend's cabin in Montana last month. The painting measures 24" x 30" and is painted in acrylic on canvas.

  • so i thought this was gonna suck at first i always trip out how the painting just keeps being transformed, im a painter but im self taught and i always used to aim straight for the picture instead of taking my time and layering. anyways that being said, my jaw just dropped when this was done its amazing and inspiring! i am definitely going to check out your technique blog awesome i just saw that you have that lol

    you rock!

  • Thanks! Yes, my paintings always look really weird at the beginning. :) I'm self taught as well and it took me a while to learn to stick with it through the layering before getting to the detail. I find the layering is faster and makes the colors work better together at the end. Use a big brush at the beginning so you don't get bogged down.

  • Aw thanks for the tip! That is so awesome! Make more videoooooos lol. I saw the painting of the pug, god that is so awesome. I love watching paintings be made! Are you making the big money selling your paintings? lol Cause you should be!

  • Well, it's not a career you choose to get rich :) but I'm so lucky to be able to do my dream job full time. Working on a new video today, check back soon.
