ABC News Coverage of September 11, 2001 - Charles Gibson Reporting

America was forever changed on 9/11/01. And most of us were witness to the events of that day - seen through the lenses of the major news networks. Understanding the historical significance of that day, I dropped a blank VHS tape in the VCR when I got home from work and recorded off-and-on unti it was full. Two weeks ago I watched that footage (again) for the first time in ten years. I think these clips demonstrate how much we all were in disbelief over the whole thing.

I do not claim ownership of any part of these clips. I place them here solely for historical and educational purposes. When our children wonder why we must remove our shoes and wait in line for hours to get through airport security, we say "THIS is why. THIS is the day EVERYTHING changed."

@mercysmith - I think we all cried over this at some point. I hardly ever have something move me to tears. But that morning did. CNN.com has a great series of timeline video of events as they unfolded that morning with all the reporters trying to do their best to tell us what was happening. Check out cnn.com/video/ About midway down the page the videos are grouped as "Sept 11, 2001 coverage".

I was watching Charlie Gibson that morning. They first said there was a report of maybe a small plane that had hit the building but they were trying to get more information. Then everything started happening. I would like to hear the 'off the cuff' reporting of that morning if you have a copy of that part. I cried for a good 6 months everytime this came to mind - and I still do when seeing this. God bless all the families that were impacted by this terrible ungodly act. Thanks for posting.
