Shopping carts that lock when removed from the parking lot

One of the problems that many supermarkets have is that people take the shopping carts home with them. This store has solved that problem.

Couldn't you just put the cart in the back of a truck and then steal it that way? Or steal it by pushing it back on the back wheels.

What I like better is the carts that make you put in 50 cents to get the cart unlocked... Then to get your 50cents back... you have to put the cart back in the rack and plug it in to pop back out the 50 cents.

i feel like this is a cali thing. it might just be me. ive seen it around a few times at longs drugstores and supermarkets

these can be found at a few walmarts and targers. there is a certain sound frequency that if you play it as loud as you can in your car speakers by a cart rack they will all lock.
