It;s one billion people who speak English and one hundred million people who speak German. I agree with you that it's more important to speak English, but if you live in Europe it is a great plus to speak German, French and Spanish as well. And it;s intertesting to watch an opera in german because a lot of them are composed that way! Maybe you're not interested in germany and you don't know their cultural richness but please don't deny something you are simply ignorant of.

German is a beautiful language and millions of people speak it. Lots of books, opera's and other interesting things are written or spoken in german and if you want to do business in Europe, it handy as well. So don't try to find excuses for your own lameness.
