Best version i've ever heard, much better than then the most recent St. Olaf recording. This recording has life, drama and passion. Very well done.

though i certainly appreciate the traditional lutheran "big choir" sound, I prefer the Nordic Choir's recording of this piece. Soprano unification in this recording is missing and there is most definitely a lack of dynamic contrast. The rubato in the climax section sounds fantastic though!

Sounds like the sopranos are pinching in some sections, and disregarding blend in others. The men do sing in the old traditional Lutheran style, but there must be more attention to phrasing and dynamics. Sounds forte throughout.

Well i did, in fact i purchased their new CD for it. And I would definately recommend the it, after all the Nordic Choir is incredible. But as for this piece, I think Dr. Arnold (who certainly is a brilliant conductor as well) interprets the piece much more like a chamber choir would. I personally like the traditional, big, colorful sound of the Christiansen interpretation done by Concordia and St. Olaf. The way Dr. Clausen conducts this piece really brings it to life.

@lala132435 i was at this performance and the sopranos sounded very clear, the camera may have had hd picture but the sound is still picked up from a small microphone, not professionally done.
