The fishpond contains approximately 2000 gallons of water and has Koi, Shubunkins, Comets, and Goldfish. It has a natural aquatic plant filtration system. Organic waste products are processed by the roots of aquatic plants such as water hyacinths and water lilies. The natural underwater gravel filter is home to beneficial microorganisms that also process the organic debris. No chemicals are added to this habitat other than de-chlorinizer when adding water to neutralize the chlorine that is added to the public water supply.

Natural pond filtration system removes carbon dioxide from the water while adding oxygen, cleans the pond of pollutants like toxic heavy metals, ammonium, nitrates, etc., and provide areas for beneficial bacteria and biofilms. The pond habitat also provides a healthy environment for other animals such as frogs, worms, dragonflies, butterflies, spiders, lizards, squirrels and many types of native birds. Mosquitoes are prevented from laying eggs in the water due to the constant movement of water by the waterfall.

  • te quedo con madres. me podrias dar unos consejos para el mio de como mantener el agua limpia?

  • Amazing! You've managed to keep the water clean without use of chemicals or mechanical filters, just by natural means. You actually don't even have to change the water as you've struck a balance in the ecosytem. Beneficial microbes have been established to break down decaying matter. Now that is one sweet pond.... so jealous right now! Lol!

  • very beautiful pond

  • That is a sweet pond, I must say! I'm impressed that this little ecological system sustains itself.

  • it's beautiful!
