I'm paraphrasing but at one point in the movie doesn't Tom say something to the effect of "I don't feel like signing my life away". You can call 'em sellouts or not I don't care, but it was kinda hypocritical.

They would not have mingled with them at baseball games, or gone to bars and drank with major labels if that was so.
