With the 1993 Daytona 500 behind us, Racermac1988 already posting Rockingham and since I dont have Richmond or Atlanta we skip ahead to race #5 of the 1993 season, The Lady In Black.
The 1993 Transouth Financial 500 from Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.

Also of note, ill say this now because im sure about 400 people will comment and i dont want that many emails lol, sadly this was Alan Kulwicki's final race, just 4 days later he was killed in a plane crash on his way to Bristol.

Also this was the final 500 mile spring race at Darlington, starting in 1994 this race was changed to 400 miles.

Also one last note, sorry about the fuzz on the screen, nothing i can do about that.

  • Up until 2000, if you were new to Darlington you had to take a test and qualify on the second day! It was NASCAR keeping The Lady In Black fresh in your mind!!

  • I looked it up. Jeff Gordon qualified in the top ten fifteen times in 1993, which is a lot. I don't get why he couldn't qualify on the first day, then. Was this just a Darlington rule?

  • Rookies couldn't qualify on first-day qualifying? Why is that? And when did it change?

  • Such a sad thing.

  • The good ol days of nascar on espn with Bob, Ned and Benny. Yeah I miss these days.

  • Thank you so much. I wish I could do this myself but I can't get the stuff for it. That's why I thank you guys so much everytime you post this stuff. Thanks so much!!

  • Wow, Jeff 5th in points.
