The spare and smoldering electro/guitar bits comprised by the xx LP are ripe for remix reduction, the latest coming from 23-year-old L.A. producer Jason Chung aka Nosaj Thing. His take on the best new artist of 2009's "Islands" comes on the heels of a redo for Chalotte Gainsbourg (Radiohead and hometown brethren Flying Lotus before that), pitting its native vocals inside trip-hopped, stereoscopic synths and trickly beats, locating the xx's "Islands" somewhere between Bristol and Flying Lotus's Los Angeles.
