I think it was pretty obvious given his reaction that it was just a name he came up with on the spot. Whether it's the name of a family member or not, doesn't matter. What matters is, it's not his middle name.

The idea that Perry is his middle name is a popular idea but was never confirmed on the show. On the other hand, there's no reason to conclusively say that it ISN'T his middle name. It may be. It may also be a name he came up with on the spot, as the poster above said. Maybe it was an alias he had already been using in the future when hiding from Wyatt. Or maybe, since it starts with a 'P', it was the first name of one of his cousins, a son of either Paige or Phoebe. We don't really know.

Perry was a name he came up with "on the spot". It's not his middle name. It wasn't even confirmed on the show and it was never confirmed outside the show. It was just an in the moment "first name to come to his mind" reaction to being interrogated by the girls and trying to keep his identity a secret.
