"The more you honor Me, the more will I bless you."
"Viva Señor Sto. Niño! Pit Señor!"

"Say the Rosary every day...Pray, pray a lot and offer
sacrifices for sinners...I'm Our Lady of the Rosary.
Only I will be able to help you.
...In the end My Immaculate Heart will triumph." Our Lady at Fatima

"Pray! Pray very much! Offer prayers and sacrifices constantly to the Most High." "Make everything you can a sacrifice, and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended..." These were the words at the Angel's second appearance to the three children of Fatima.
The faithful receive abundant grace of God.

Sr. Sto Nino de Fiesta Sinulog Celebration 2011
The Tradition comes to Chicago, Illinois, USA

The saga of Sr. Sto. Nino de Cebu to the Filipino community has numerous tales to tell how He miraculously everyone's life. Many of the faithful devotees bring their Holy image and little replicas to fulfill their promises they made to observe an annual fiesta, silunog celebration which both petitions and thanksgiving are presented to the Santo Nino.

Filipinos in the U.S. Have adapted to the American culture but still maintain the Filipino culture to celebrate the annual fiesta of Sr. Sto. Nino de Cebu. Year 1984 is a blessed year for my family to migrate to Chicago, bringing along the image of Sto. Nino de Cebu and started yearly novena prayers among our family and friends from 1985 -- 1988. It is a belief; that no problem remains unsolved, no sickness uncured, no pain unrelieved when the devout pray before the Holy image.

From 1989 -- 1995 we celebrated our annual Sinulog celebration at Des Plaines Park District. Sto. Nino de Cebu Prayer Group in Chicago grew in numbers as word spread to the Filipino Community. To meet the growing population, we moved to St. Isaac de Joques and celebrated from 1996 -- 2001. Year after year more faithful devotees joined with us and we struggle to seek vanues to enable us to meet our growing population. The events such as novena, procession, mass celebration, reception, fiesta cultural presentations, Sinulog dance celebration, family fun and all night dancing leads us to hold our annual fiesta for 9 years now at St. Catherine Laboure in cooperation with the Asian-American Association of SCL, Glenview, Il.

All are welcome to celebrate the catholic faith expressed in the best traditions of the Cebu City, Philippines. Residents from the Cebu City, Province, North to South, East to West and the neighboring islands, cluster our spirit together to celebrate our annual fiesta celebration every 3rd Saturday of January at St. Catherine Laboure in Glenview, Il. Today is our 23rd annual Sinulog Fiesta celebration and thank you all for joining our yearly festivity.

Sinulog Festival
The annual Sinulog Festival is held on the third Sunday in January. It honors the city's patron saint, Jesus, or the Santo Nino (Holy Child). After the Spanish arrived and settled Cebu City, Christianity was spread and encouraged. The local rulers were baptized into the faith. According to history, Queen Juana received an idol of Jesus as a gift for her baptism and broke into a joyful dance.
The style of dance has a similar flowing motion and predates the Spanish. The dance is referred to as "Sinulog," derived from a Cebu word describing the flow of water. The Sinulog Festival focuses on dance and dance rituals while celebrating the Santo Nino. It is a combination of Christian traditions and a more pagan approach to celebration.

The two great commandments that contain the whole law of God are: 1. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind, and with thy whole strength;
2. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

And one of them, a doctor of the Law, putting him to the test, asked him, "Master, which is the great commandment in the Law?" Jesus said to him, "'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind.' This is the greatest and the first commandment. And the second is like it, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 22:35-40)
