If your bathtub drain is slowing down, it just might be a clump of hair caught on the tub's lift-and-turn stopper. Cleaning the drain regularly may help avoid a truly clogged drain. It isn't hard to do once you know how.

  • Someone else posted that they couldn't find the screwdriver slot in the middle. Mine didn't have that either. Just tighten around the entire middle piece after removing the top and unscrew it.

  • @dresden24 Mine is the kind without the screw and I still can not get the plug to come off. Help!!! I am very frustrated with this type of drain.

  • @led157pa2 Hopefully dresden24 helped with their comment. Otherwise read all the comments for someone's note that might match your drain.

  • @dresden24 Thanks for posting, I'm sure it will be helpful.

  • This is beyond amazing! I have never seen so much hair in my life! Thanks!

  • @snatchjunkie Yeah, amazing. Do this regularly unless you enjoy the disgusting treasure awaiting you.

  • Thought mine was like yours, but after five minutes realized it was simpler, just held on by a single phillip's screw. Thanks for the tip of using the needle nose pliers, I was able to pull out the entire clog with them.

  • Thank you!

  • this totally worked for me. i feel empowered and i can do it again when the time arises. thanks much. I did call the local home improvement store to begin with, they told me what to do, but to actually see this video helped me immensely with the process. THANKS MUCH!!!

  • Thank you!

  • Nearly got a hernia until I looked and discovered that the ENTIRE chromed top piece is ONE CASTING on my particular model of pop-up. All you need is the channel locks on the big - outer - ring of it and counter-clockwise unscrew the WHOLE ASSEMBLY. Then put some plumber's grease on the threads and hand tighten back in... Fixed! Thanks! Otherwise great video.. but please add notes in your video about not having to separate the top of the plug if it's not too much trouble... Thanks!

  • Great Video. Disgusting, but thats the nature of the job i suppose!

  • thnx for the video.. helpful

  • awesome vid! u should have seen the lion's mane that was stuck in my drain lolol

  • Simple! Great Vid.

  • Thank you so much!!! I was easily able to clean out my drain thanks to yours instructions, and now I'm high on girl power.
