mazdaspeed6 vs. audi s4

this is in no way saying either car is faster than the other.... just showing what happenes in this specific situation..


mazdaspeed6 mods: CA intake, catback exhaust.

s4 mods: intake, intercooler upgrades, downpipes, full exhaust, and chipped ecu.

mps gets edged out by a nose in drag, literally... half of a fender. freeway, the audi has superior gearing.

I too own a Mazdaspeed6 and I like it alot. I drive it hard beat it a bit and have not had one single issue with this car. I know alot of people that tell me "their Mazda 3, Mazda 6", has all kinds of problems, like bad transmisions, engine problems and so on, and they hate them. Then I have to explain to them that "their Mazda" was made in the USA and the Mazdaspeeds are made in Japan. They have different transmisions and different engines. not the the same kind of car.

the only problem i have really had with this car was the rear diff mount sheering bolts out, but after i got the factory upgrade i havent had that problem again. something recent i have encountered, now that it is hella cold. the stock battery doesnt have enough cold cranking amps or something, but the car looses its charge and isnt starting. but thats a small thing i keep a jumper box in the back for some reason. but i have been driving it hard for 3 years, track days and all. still no problem.

@yunglex Rare its from launching it hard on improper tire pressure from my understanding trying to get low 60 foot times.

@KrGsMrNKusinagi0. Thats exactly what the issue was. Never had a issue after that. I really miss this car as a daily. Rx8 is bullshit in comparrison. Fun, but completely impractical for daily use.

fun car, nice daily driver... nothing i would dump money into. end of story. i get great gas mileage, i can put it on the racetrack and run some fast laps without worrying about anything, and i can drive it home packed with a ton of friends, and equipment. everyone can debate between the 2, but they both have attributes that attract buyers. i happened to like the mazda, so i purchased it.

Wait for that MS6 to break the tranny, destroy the differential within 10k miles.

As far as the S4, either the driver couldn't launch it or smth doesnt make sense. A chipped S4 does 11-12s easily.

Also you can't compare the cheap plastic interior of mazda with Audi, sorry but Germans build quality cars thus that $12k.

BTW, i never heard Mazda using VTEC? I know they use VRIS in their intake manifolds (thank you Porsche for the idea)

i think you are kinda mistaken... or you have a common misconception that all german fan boys do.

that car will not do easily 12's or it would be doing it. that car is chipped intercooled, and all...

my car wont break the tranny, just the rear diff mount.. all under a very good powertrain warranty. so nothing to worry about.

the mazda gets much better mileage and has more room. unfair race though, need to be mod for mod to realize which is quicker. mod for mod i think the ms6 would snipe the s4.

i think ima get a MS6 as a daily. the T/A is getting too many miles on it too fast. these cars look like they are fun to drive. can anyone tell me what the mpg is and if they all come factory turbo?

the description of this vid is weird...i thought the ms6 won the freeway runs..but the description says otherwise...ms6 only has an intake for power while the s4 has all that shit plus a chip..wtf?

What did they do to fix your sheering bolts problem, it happend to me on my speed 6 3 weeks ago and they replaced the housing and bolts and called it good. last week the bolts literally just came out of the housing and brought some of the threading with them... so i was curious what they did to yours

@yunglex Actually that's not a misconception.  Only the 06 Mazdaspeed6 had a rear differential problem, they used to break, the 07's didn't have that problem much, mazda definitely did look into it (thank god) but there was a problem. As far as inferior, I'm not so sure about that, i've driven german cars before and they're nice, but the Japanese cars are becoming better with build quality.

im a ms6 owner and personally i would prefer to have a b5....u cant go wrong with with a 2.7l v6 with twin :)...a chip exhaust cai and maybe a fmic and a good tune would put u around 360 ponies.... now thats damn fast if u ask me.....but fining one with less than 40K is impossible!
