  • Shomen uchi can be done with a step, even with a bokken -- for instance, shomen uchi from gedan hasso.

  • "Tsuri means sleeves"... ?  Sode= sleeves, tsurikomi (tsurikomu) is to attract. Unless Sensei meant that colloquially, it is not, strictly speaking, true.

  • The shomenuchi should be clearer and should be from the front foot - like striking with the bokken, Should not be stepping from the back foot.
