It's weird to see this video and see all that has been demolsihed in Asbury since this was recorded... Gone are: Palace Amusements, the dirty movie theater next to Palace, Casino, Flamingo Motel, the three houses at :33, Mrs. Jay's Beer Garden, The Albion Hotel, etc. This footage has to be from the early 80s, there is no sign of the infamous C-8 Building being built at all...

FlyinfZ, TY for sharing your video. I was born and razed in As. Pk. from a little kid in the 50's & 60's to early my 20's when I moved away. I played at the B'walk when it was so packed U could barely walk. I smoked my 1st. cig. under the b'walk a few feet away from the Casino and got my 1st. kiss on the ferris wheel at the Palace where I also I played air hocky against some of the local Greek kids for spending cash. I went to Bond St. School & and 4 yrs at As. Pk. H.S. TY for your video!

At 0:31 is where Bruce initially played more times than at the S. Pony. Right of blue house was "The Student Prince" owner was Ritchie; 2 narrow windows with door in between. Larger windows were a diff. part of bldg. Gow Shin restaurant, owner Henry Yip. When "Greetings From As. Pk" was released, was a the celebration party at the Prince. I worked there one summer and following winter checking IDs. The S. Pony gets all the attention but here and the UpStage is where it started.

Wow! Fantastic info! I have plenty of bootlegs where Bruce talks about The Student Prince & the Upstage. Always wondered where they were! When I shot this in '88, that joint was called Club Xanadu or something. He first played Dancing in the Dark there in 1984. If I recall right, it was even before the tour started. I kinda remember reading about it. Thanks so much for the info...that shot has more history in it, than I was aware of. Glad I got it, albeit another shaky zoom. (was just learning)

The house shown at the very end of the video has nothing to do with Bruce or the band. The Boxer Family lives there and has for many years.
The Band hung out about a block south of this house.

Excellent! Thanks for the info. Been wondering about that house for years. I just shot it at the corner of 10th Ave and E Street, as an educated guess. (or should I say un-educated?)
