The moust impotant for FWD is the dictance (link) from steering colum to pedals braket. It shall be as long as posible. The limite is drivers legs. This eliminate swinging force out of pedaling.
But any way U have to learn how to pedal on FWD. Good Staf U may help U'r legs using arms.
That's right, the trail is different for a FWD than a RWD. I think Tom Traylor straightened the forks slightly to increase the trail. The Cruz Bike uses an adapter to mount the front wheel at the correct trail and axle spacing.
I saw Mr. Traylor racing his streamlined recumbent on the velodrome in San Diego once. It was a very impressive bike.
I agree, it's a nice bike so far. I wonder how far he developed it.
I question the 45 degree fork angle, though. The center steered recumbents like the Flevobike need a shallow fork angle to get the proper trail with the steering head so far behind the front wheel. Tom Traylor style FWDs like the Cruzbike use standard steering head angles and head tubes set higher above the front wheel.

Trail has a part effect on FWD.
U have account FWD pooling force from wheel. In BWD front wheel just roll-around with some rolling resistance :))
