Fixed my daughter's laptop using this vid. Did not need to remove the entire mobo though, so no removal of heatsink/fan/hd/etc was necessary, just the top section of the case.

Now I'm her hero (like back in the old days when she was 6). Guess it will last for a day and a half ;)
