Martti Ahtisaari is a former President of Finland (1994--2000) and a UN diplomat and mediator, noted for his international peace work. Currently he is the UN representative and mediator during the Vienna peace talks that will determine the final status of Serbia's southern province, Kosovo (which has been under UN administration since 1999). In his proposal to the UN Security Council he has recommended supervised independence for Kosovo.

Dont pervert history with your lies. Finland was fighting off Russians that were ocupying Finland. Now finnish guerilla fighters and Germany had a common enemy but they were not SS they were finnish fighters fighting for freedom.

This man has no busniess calling himself a UN Mediator, he was an errand boy for western powers in the Kosovo conflict telling Milosevic that his country would be wasted by western powers if he carried on fighting, in a CNN interview after he was scandously awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, he refered to the Serbs as 'thieves', read any solid account of Serbia's relationship with Kosovo, the Serbs founded the state of Kosovo, their were not thieves, the demographics changed against them......

I respect your point. And Im tempted not to have sympathy with Serbs because they got Vojvodina in the same way you may get Kosovo now. However, 99.9% of Serbs weren't alive then. All they've known is Kosovo as part of Serbia, as it was before the Ottoman invasion, which is probably why we gave it back to them. Is it fair to punish today's Serbs? Answer is simple . Just focus your eye on Ukraine and Georgia , and their two leaders Saakashvili and Yuschenko , as strategic american and NATO partners in Eastern Europe , beside the fact that majority of Ukranian and Georgian people dont hate Russians .
