The prosperity in Hong Kong, the United States, and every other industrialized nation around the world is the result of capitalism, rule of law, and protection of private property rights. Democracy has nothing to do with the creation of wealth. In fact, most of the time Democracy is hostile to the creation of wealth.

Hong Kong was not a Democracy until 1990, and even then its has free healthcare and looks after its citizens.Hong Kong the biggest port in asia and got billion in investment from the British Empire.

Th reason America is rich is not because of our natural resources, but because of capitalism. Honk Kong has zero natural resources yet because of their free market policies have a standard of living equal to our own. Hong Kong also never had slavery.

In capitalism people work together to achieve a very high standard of living.
