True life amazing story of a World War Two American hero, and 1936 Olympian. He survived 45 days on an open raft after his B-24 crashed into the Pacific Ocean. Captured by the Japanese and endured 2 1/2 years of brutal treatment. Returned to the USA and struggled to get his life together; only made possible with a life changing event in Los Angeles in 1949.

  • If you have not read the book "Unbroken", you must.

  • I wish all children could read this mans' experiences. These men were our

"HEROS", not the over paid Athlets of today!!

  • I am finishing up the book "Unbroken"...WOW!! I would love to meet the guy. They don't make 'em like that any more...

  • @davebrendala1 AMEN BROTHER! Every athlete today has this sense of entitlement in which they think they can do anything. They ALL disgust me. Zamperini is the one of the last of The Greatest Generation.

  • I went to see him at church in my city

  • I just finished the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand today, Veteran's Day 2011.. I did not even know it was a true story until almost the end and I knew it had to be. This man's story needs to be told in a movie for sure. I wanted to know more about him and The Bird. I was delighted to find these videos.

  • Louis is absolutely for real. He was one of the adult leaders of the high school department at my church when I was growing up in the 60's-70's in the LA area. Everyone loved him - he lived what he preached. He still does.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I just finished reading "Unbroken" by Lauren Hildebrand, and I wanted to learn more about Zamperini. I'll be sharing these videos with others. What an inspiration! I agree with chilrednsbooks4u, Steven Spielberg, this story is crying out to be told on film!
