Filmed at 1200 frames/sec, a pellet is shot through a water-filled 24" clear tube. These perpendicular shots of high speed objects are difficult and show the limitation of the Casio EXF1. Bullets videos you've seen (etc) filmed flying across the screen are filmed at 50,000+ frames a second or so, and are very expensive cameras.

But with this water tube, as the pellet starts to quickly decellerate, you can start to see the cavitations and finally the pellet stopping at the end of the tube. I was not real hopeful of how well this would turn out but it came out a lot better than I thought it would.

  • Nice idea! hard to execute this one...lighting and angle are key...those pellets are moving...u need a slow pellet gun like mine..lol

  • That sheet of aluminum- I was trying to reflect more light onto the tube. I set the shutter to 1/1600 (about the highest I could go with the light I had) Recorded at 1200fps.... I wanted to also show the limitations of the camera. As you know there's a point where some things are just too fast to the camera.

  • pretty interesting to see the flexing of the tube. might i suggest taping or tying the tube down to keep it in frame for the whole shot. plus it would rely more on the water to stop it rather than moving the whole tube and everything. great job bro

  • The tube of water probably weighed about 3 lbs and I didn't expect it to move much. I shot at a distance of about 10 feet and water blasted out from the tube at me each time, lol. I didn't know what I got until I edited it.

  • friggin awesome

  • you should try this with the pellet shot backward

  • Fantastic idea!!!

  • i think you will have better luck with the fragmentive mod vs ballistics gell in high speed :)

  • .117, I drilled them out a little in order to pack more powder into them too.
