From Iowa City, Iowa, Pieta Brown is the prolific daughter of folk music giant Greg Brown. In addition to her own work, Pieta recently supplied vocals to a new CD by Calexico — the sensational border music band out of Tucson.

In this clip, she performs "West Monroe."

The 30 Minute Music Hour is about artists and the music they make.

Transcending genres, the 30mmh encourages honky-tonk bar bands to rub elbows with hip hop performers, singer/ songwriter folk and anyone who creates innovative, educated music.

  • This song is beyond words. I'm now afraid of a place called West Monroe.

  • That`s some seriously tasty electric lead playing by the very cool Mr Bo Ramsey.

  • Great song! Pieta Brown will be the support act for all of Mark Knopfler's US tour in 2010!

  • another great song, played and sang beautifully...

  • Whoa. This is great. Figures that Greg's daughter would be great!

  • Bo's notes wraps around Pieta's vocals like kudzu in a good way. Atmospheric splendor.

  • The notes from Bo's guitar wraps around Pieta's vocals like kudzu. Great duo.

  • Great tune. I think her best for now.
