www.bostonherald.com The presses at Boston Herald have gone silent after 50 years. Outsourcing and expenses claiming another part of the industry. Staff video by Stuart Cahill
@xboxter the union has nothing to do with this its the times its old technology people dont buy the paper as much so ad revenue was down wtf do you know sir?
worked at the buffalo news and after 15 yrs was layed off in 2004 our presses were wood letter presses we had 5 them they bought 2 new presses hiedleburgs i think and 40 guys got the ax
im ready for this to happen any time now at the philadelphia inquirer where i currently print the newspaper. Our company is run extremely poorly, but has alot of potential if management could figure ways of running things smoothly.. We have 9 Goss Colorliner presses and currently print our in house and daily papers in addition to the ny times ny post and wall street journal, plus many more commercial sized runs... GL guys
This is what happens when unions make it impossible for a company to compete or upgrade their equipment. When working with a union this is the inevitable end. Don't blame the economy, or outsourcing. When a union hobbles a company and hinders it's ability to compete every body loses.
