Cong. Trent Franks (R-AZ) hosted a briefing by AIFD President, M. Zuhdi Jasser, on the threat of political Islam and the responsibilties of American Muslims to engage in the war of ideas. Cong. Keith Ellison, who had just returned from fundraising for CAIR in Arizona despite recommmendations not to from members of the AZ Congressional delegation was present and offered counter arguments and the Islamist spin. [this is Part 3 of 9 of a 30 min briefing which included 50 min of Q and A]
In no way is Dr. Jasser saying that only Muslim's commit violence and seek justification through religion. He's discussing those who subscribe to political Islamic ideology. He said that over and over and over again. In this forum however, the subject is Islam, not Hinduism or Judaism. And please show me where Dr. Jasser advocates violence to change hearts and minds and stamp out this radical ideology.

Have to agree w/Keith Ellison on this matter. It is not just muslims that make acts of violence against us. Look at Timothy McVey for instance and all the lives he took of the innocent women and children. And until the day we executed him he was proud of his deed against America! And throughout history there are many more acts of violence against America by Americans!

I admire & respect Dr. Jasser for his allegiance to the USA & his speaking out in support of separation of mosque & state. Please stay strong, Dr. Jasser. Praying more muslims will join you.

Too bad the 1st Muslim-American congressman is an apologist for the shortcomings of Islam and not someone more honest and self-critical like Jasser. What a jerk. If he raised money for CAIR, no wonder.

Muslims should have the exact same right to peacefully, legally, democratically advocate for whatever causes they want in terms of foreign or domestic policy. What is not ok and should be vigorously prosecuted is terrorism. But apart from that, Muslims should be able to participate fully in politics. There is nothing wrong with non-violent "political Islam".

Wouldman2 misses the point of the abortion clinic analogy. Almost all Christians (Catholics, Evangelicals) believe abortion is murder. And based on that belief many demonstrate in front of abortion clinics, they support pro-life candidates for office, and they engage in other methods to try to reverse Roe v. Wade in order to impose their values on the rest of society. That's all "ok". What is not ok is to take the law in your own hands and bomb clinics and kill abortion workers...

@PuffDaddy786 What nonsense! You, as a Muslim, can trash Jews with no shame whatsover, but you want to be treated with kit gloves. Give me a break! Try having the same set of standards for all people..you hypocrite

I can't believe Keith ellison suggests that the answer is to survey Christians and Jews as well. Wow, what a non-answer. If these were Christians, then we wouldn't be stepping on eggshells right now. People would be calling it what it was. The story of Baruch Goldstein he doesn't know at all, because the anaology he gives is completely false

Since America only has about 0.004% of all Muslim on Earth,Dr.Jasser and Mr.Ellison can't claim to have the true view of islam for the 99.996% outside America that DO endorse killing gays and Union leaders or females for honour killings. Oddly though,Ellison shows his own ignorance and overt stupidity to paint all Christians for what a non-christain did to a abortion clinic. His stance to oppose violence would have enshriend Slavery because Abolishionist could never die to dismantle it.
