A daytime view of Halloween 2009 in Salem, Massachusetts. All video was taken between 3-4 PM. Obviously, the crowds grew after dark. The video starts at Artists Row off New Derby St, continues to the Essex St. Pedestrian Mall, then goes towards the Salem Witch Museum in Washington Square. Later you'll see the DeLorean from the Back to the Future movies on the closed to traffic Washington St. From there you see the Witch Dungeon on Lynde St. and later the Witch House before turning back on Essex St. towards where we started. The traffic coming into the city really peaks about 4 pm, when the video ends.

  • I worked all night in downtown Salem tonight (Halloween 2010), but I did get out long enough to see the Britannica Band play a few songs and record a couple! I hope those that made it to Salem this month all enjoyed your time here.

  • I have a new video up from the Monday before Halloween, 2010, on a spooky, foggy night. I hope you will like that too.

  • A note to those coming for Halloween Night 2010. Please come by Hawthorne Blvd (near Salem Common and the Hawthorne Hotel) sometime between 7-10 PM for a live show with my friends from the Britannica Band. You'll find several songs by them on my YouTube profile. They specialize is music from the British Invasion and some original songs like "Don't Burn the Witch". Give them a try!

  • Wow there is a lot of traffic during October in Salem. Is it that bad ?

  • @KatandKathy

Uh, yes it is that bad. There are no major routes that go into downtown Salem. The action is condensed into about 4x6 blocks. less than a square mile. Thousands of people come and need to find parking. There are no major hotel chains with locations in downtown Salem. There are two big hotels, and several smaller bed and breakfasts, all booked up al through October. So, most of the people come from out of towns, clogging the streets severely! Come by TRAIN!

  • Lived in Lynn, MA for 15 years. I always went to Salem every weekend, Ioved the place. When I was little we used to go to Salem Willows for pizza. XD

I have never went there on Halloween, I guess I'll regret that now...

  • @Lach1234 Ah, Salem willows! All kids are still required to visit there. The pizza place next to the arcade still operates, of course, as does the Chop Suey sandwich shop and popcorn. I remember one man running the pizza shop window grabbing my $5 bill and saying $5 MILLION dollars before making change just about every time. It made a kid feel good to have so much money!
