You know, I had one of those a face-palm moments when I heard one of the leading guys of OLPC saying people use it as a source of light. Darnit man, they have no power! They hardly have anything. Ye ye, give a man a fish, teach him how to fish. That only implies if a man is not going to starve while you're teaching him.

This issue has been discussed several times, the target countries where the OLPCs are being distributed aren't countries where people are dying from hunger, that wouldn't make sense. Furthermore, your comment has nothing to do with the video demonstrating a nice tool that can be used by anyone, poor or rich, kid or adult.

Yeah, synthesis and mathematics and ... music, is for everyone. I think children in developing countries need software like this most especially, since they probably will not get this anywhere else.

Maybe people would like poor people to have more practical things, but that does not mean such an idea is correct. Music and mathematics are both KEY to healthy mental development.

Just because you cannot eat math and music, does not mean that they are invalid for hungry people.

Err wait, aren't these laptops suppose to be for children in developing countries?

Indeed, what's the problem with children in developing countries learning about synthesis ? That kind of knowledge should be kept only for us occidentals ?

Well hopefully those have protection from "unwanted" sites for children.. there's already enough in America, why hurt the future leaders of current developing countries?

Man, this is awesome. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this. Hopefully we can expect some pretty cool experimental electronica coming out of places like africa.

BTW - Your voice makes me sleepy.
