Ken Vaughn paid $750 for a 1934 Packard that was in very bad shape. He and his son, Glenn, restored it, and later were able to sell it to the publisher of the Los Angeles Times. But Ken's son, Glenn, got it back for a few weeks after a man paid $600,000 for the car and wanted him to do a few things to it. KXLY4's Annie Bishop reports.

  • Yes, indeed, she's a beauty! My great grandfather built these or I should say oversaw every aspect of their design, manufacture and production for nearly 40 years. They are in class by themselves and this is a stunning example.'Ask the Man who owns one."

  • This guy in Post Falls is a crook.

  • @billchair2 My dad bought a 34 Packard in Melbourne in the 1950;'s. He sold it but he can't recall to whom it was sold. I just have a photo of it at old home in the mid 50's. Hopefully the car is still kicking around.

  • Im not sure why this is considered a rare packard. The news reporter's explanation seems very muddled. One thing to note: Packard convertibles in the late 20s, early 30s did not often have door windows. Convertibles has accessory side-curtains that would snap on and off. Windows were limited to the sedan models. So maybe the windows makes it rare. Or maybe the door windows were just done at the whim of the restorer. The key question is whether the door windows are original.

  • I always thought Fran Roaxis was the best coach builder restorer.

  • My good friend Peter has an obsession with Packard's which began when he was just 16 years old.

He found a Packard, fell in love with it and spent the whole snow season (yes, we have snow in Australia!) saving up for for it by working at a snow chalet, or something similar.

At the end of that snow season, Peter returned to the person who was selling the Packard & bought it, starting a life long obsession with them! He now has 2 properties outside of Sydney, each with a tin shed full of Packards

  • you are an inspiration to me glen my grandpa restored classics also and it is definitly a fine talent you are gifted
