From 2:33 to 5.43!
UETD Brussels welcomed the Civilizations Chorus of Antioch at the Cathedral St. Michael and Gudula in Brussels on December 8, 2009.
The chorus is composed of 55 individuals, 11 of whom are musicians. In this chorus, priests, imams, rabbis and other members from six different groups within the three Abrahamic religions are gathered to express their cultural and ethnical music together. In addition, men and women from different backgrounds, such as jewellers, manufacturers, doctors, students and retired people are joined in this chorus.
Not only is the Civilizations Chorus project aiming to demonstrate that living together in a multicultural environment is an essential value in our society, but also to prove that true and sustainable peace in a globalizing world can only be achieved by means of multicultural interactivity. The members of the chorus will perform with their authentic identity - just like they are in their daily lives.
UETD Brussels is a non-governmental organization (NGO) accredited to the European Parliament aiming to bring different people together in peace and security. It struggles against rejection towards multiculturality and diversity.
UETD Brussels values initiatives such as 2008s European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, and 2009s European Year of Creativity and Innovation. UETD Brussels was pleased to take the lead in this perspective and organize the Antakya Civilizations Chorus program within this framework.
