I've read Alan Whicker's autobiography- he enjoyed the Pythons' satire on him, and sent them a letter, joking that he was going to sue them for staging the sketch. They sent him a publicity photo of all of them as "Whickers", adding, "Here's some ammunition"...

I'd say the caribbean island (and the flowery description thereof) simply relates to the locales where one would find the sort of people Alan Whicker spent his career interviewing.
