Creedence Clearwater Revival
Someday Never Comes
Mardi Gras

Lyrics:

First thing I remember was askin' papa, "Why?",
For there were many things I didn't know.
And Daddy always smiled; took me by the hand,
Sayin', "Someday you'll understand."

CHORUS:
Well, I'm here to tell you now each and ev'ry mother's son
You better learn it fast; you better learn it young,
'Cause, "Someday" Never Comes."

Well, time and tears went by and I collected dust,
For there were many things I didn't know.
When Daddy went away, he said, "Try to be a man,
And, Someday you'll understand."

CHORUS

And then, one day in April, I wasn't even there,
For there were many things I didn't know.
A son was born to me; Mama held his hand,
Sayin' "Someday you'll understand."

CHORUS

Think it was September, the year I went away,
For there were many things I didn't know.
And I still see him standing, try'n' to be a man;
I said, "Someday you'll understand."

CHORUS

Mmmm-mmmm-mmmm....

This song always reminds me of my dad, he used to play CCR all the time and this was my favorite song......just found out my dad has terminal cancer, so this song has a whole new meaning for me... Love You Dad!

all kids ask questions like "Daddy, when are we going fishing?" and parents always answer with "someday", but in reality someday never comes and kids never learn what they're supposed to learn. -John Fogerty 1973

"Someday Never Comes" is simply a song about my parents undergoing a divorce when I was a child and me not knowing many things. When my dad left me, he told me to be a man and someday I would understand everything. Now, I'm here basically repeating the same thing really. I had a son in 1966 and I went away when he was five years old or so and again told him "someday" he would understand everything. Really,

Sorry, but that is the way of the 21st century and the internet, they see your age and you are profiled into a category whether you like it or not. You Tube will not fix because of the avenues it opens up for them. Only way to fix it is to stay abstinent and don't turn on your computer. Ha!! Ha!!

My dad died at work a month after I graduated high school. I CCR was one of his favorite groups. I guess someday did come but I was a punk teenager.

Have not heard this in probably 30 years. Still a very good song. Is this from Pendulum or Mardi Gras album?
