Okay, so let us assume that, yes, homosexuality is an abomination and gay marriage is undesirable. I still do not see how it will have any serious, negative effect on existing and future traditional families. Where is the casual link between gays and gay marriage and an erosion of heterosexual, families. As a heterosexual person, I plan on one day marrying and having children and being a good husband and father and the presence of homosexuals in the same society will not change my plans.

Rexanglorum, I really do appreciate your sharing your perspective. However, just because your are not concerned with homosexual behavior does not change the fact that it is indeed harmful - not only to the homosexual but to his/her personal relationships and society as a whole. Again, google "studies on homosexual unions" and spend some time reading the scientific evidence. If that doesn't cause you to rethink your position then I really cannot convince you otherwise. This is not a rhetorical question. How exactly is gay marriage a threat to the well being of heterosexual families/households? I disagree with but understand people's views on the sanctity of marriage and why it should not be redefined. What I cannot understand is how people can see gay marriage as something that has the potential to decrease the number of traditional marriages, increase divorces, increase domestic violence, increase parental neglect and weaken a parent child bond.

Comment to Rexanglorum -- The scientific evidence is abundant about the harmful effects of homosexual relationships. Just google "studies on homosexual unions" and become informed. Traditional marriages (one man & one woman - see Genesis 2:24 & Mark 10:6-9) is what God designed.

God is not a Republican or a Democrat. God doesn't care about Gay rights or Straight rights, Black rights or White rights. God cares about Human rights. God doesn't favor one branch of religion over another. He is at the core of many religions. God doesn't love some of us, God loves us all.

Build up the Individual and all the problems these people complain about will be greatly reduced - but then the Church never did care much for the Individual in the political sense anymore than the Leftists do.

I value Individual Liberty above all things and this Liberty does not require faith nor does it require that I be married or have a family. This group can not be trusted if they do not put Liberty before ANYTHING else.

This country belongs to Americans - not Christians. It is the product of The Enlightenment more than any religion. Christianity dominated for over a thousand years yet America is less than 300 years old. It dominates in many countries today who have NO resemblence to America.

Homosexuality is just one SIN among thousands of other sins. What is important is that ANYONE can come to Christ that Wants Christ. It does not matter what you have done. Smoking is wrong BUT many Born Again Christians are still doing it. GOD will work on these issues over time. You cannot change alone. You need GOD first. You dont STOP sinning and then Come to God. You come to GOD first admitting your a sinner and THEN God will send the Helper to start working on us.BUT we must be willing.

Whoa whoa whoa, who ever said that was the ONLY law? I suggest you revisit Mark 12:28....It specifically says that it is the GREATEST commandment....not the ONLY one. Also, the Bible is quite clear on the subject of gay marriage....please check out Genesis 19:5-7, Romans 1:26-27, and 1 Corinthians 6:9.

The only law beside love God with all your heart is love your brother as yourself The greatest virtue is LOVE and the only unforgivable sin is a sin against the spirit. We are essentially spirit. To forbid marriage of soul mates based on external gender denies spirit LOVE it is entitled to. God can forgive mercy - NOT vengeance. Cain killed Abel yet God promised punishment 7X over to whoever took revenge on Cain. How much more he must hate your smug & merciless judgment on these, His children.
