Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) finally faces her constituents on at a health care town hall on August 29, 2009. The event was held in a small, but heavily guarded conference room at the Norris Cotton Federal Building in Manchester, NH. Many of her constituents were turned away from the event due to the space limitations of the venue. Shea-Porter has spent the majority of the congressional recess attending fundraisers and closed door events with liberal bloggers and special interest groups.

  • Sorry PotVsKtl, that just doesn't cut it. The point is that representatives don't want to listen to differing viewpoints, and are ignoring the majority of their constituents.

  • Tell that to the union thugs in the front row.

  • Looks like Carol is out of a job!

  • @LLORT3 I agree with you there, and so do the majority of Americans. Polls show the majority of citizens want public health care, so please don't decide that America is backwards based on a couple of crazies at a townhall meeting. Every country has crazy people, including Israel and countries in Europe.

  • @mlc2005

your money would be better spent on a public health infrastructure instead of bombing other countries. therefore i call USA backward, because its priorities are aimed at helping the rich make money, and not necessarily feed or nurture USA's subjects.

  • @LLORT3 : I have to point out that I as an American agree with healthcare reform, and I admire Carol Shea-Porter. But to say that the US is backwards compared to Israel (of all places frankly) and Europe is really missing the point (and VERY elitist). First, it is a LOT harder to make change in a country of 400 million (US) versus 5.5 million (Israel). And I guarantee you that Israel would not have many of its rights were it not for the billions of dollars our "backwards' country gives you.

  • The problem with these townhalls is that it usually can't be civil b/c of BOTH the politician dodging and the participants screaming and looking to embarrass the politician. However, I honestly believe that Carol is about as real as it gets, and these attacks on her as though she's just another Washington insider are ludicrous to me and intellectually dishonest.

  • I just wanted to punch that SEIU scumbag that was in the front row right in the face. But then i'd be as bad as them. Screw it, maybe we should take our country back by force.

  • @WaltzingWithWalz

Ignoring the noisiest constituents isn't ignoring the majority. These people have the grace and manners of hungry dogs.

  • This is NOT the Carol Porter from Georgia.

I just want to make it clear that Carol Porter the Georgia 2010 Lieutenant Governor candidate is not the same as Rep. Carol Shea-Porter. Two different people. Carol Porter is a common name.

  • What the hell did he do?

  • Someone on the Howie Carr show called her a bubblehead. I agree.
