Too me, Musicianship --- their what greatness is about! they don't come any better. *this recordings sounds like it might have been tapped off the matrix of the mixing board, I've yet to hear a really polished yes live mix with today's technology where the clarity of each instrument makes a wall of defined pronounced presence, always room ambiance, it's not as kind to recording live as outdoors is. hm I never heard Yes play outside, but thank you for your post, enjoyed it.

@CognitiveDissonanceX Yeah that's funny 'cause their sound man had this song screwed up when I saw them in Cannonsburg PA (Pittsburgh) I thought the vocals were lost in the mix, and then I also noticed Benoit pointing and asking for more...I saw them twice with Benoit and thought he did pretty good considering the task he had of replacing Jon Andereson.

you know what really missing in yes?? BILL BRUFORD,THE MASTAAA

is that rick's son on the keyboards?
-
Who is the keyboard player
Not geoff or Rick or Tony
Far too young

I did went to see them in the NYC area the last time they toured, and to be honest they sounded good for a bunch of men reaching their golden years. Jon's impersonator vocals were dreadful but the rest of the band created certain magic (especially Stevo) . I have to complain though, about the looks some mature couples gave me while lightin' a joint with my friends. Even in one occasion I was not too politely asked by this snobby grandma to go and smoke "that shit" somewhere else....Seriously?

A great piece of music like this has to be played as if you were on fire! These guys are sounding like a bunch of cold fish. Even though I know they can do better.
-
To hear these guys do this on the road at their age, with commitment and enthusiasm, is phenomenal.
I agree with some - tune's sketchy at spots - but if we're honest,
there were some sketchy parts in the studio cuts.
It's extremely difficult music to perform.
And just having it performed current and available is wondrous.
What I'm very thankful for is that - amongst 50¢-inspired, anti-utopian, abortions of music - these guys can still rock & affect the music world.

I thought the keyboaard section with the organ was fine......althought the sound too thin, that organ should have made THE PLACE RUMBLE with a nice been Hammond tone.......the Moog sounded too thin and cheezy, should have been thicker sound with a longer release on the envelopes

I recently heard Fly From Here in its entirety. To be fair, it has its moments...almost all due to writing. Any of those moments would have worked better with Jon at the helm. But, as with Drama, FFH simply does not sound much like a Yes album without Jon. FFH would have been a fine STARCASTLE album.
The "epic" side works for me on an atmospheric level. Side 2 seems like fluff & filler to me. Too much strumming...too folky, at least to my ears.

@rannrudisill dude, would you like anything written by anyone if it were "bad" writing? that makes no sense... It's like saying, "I love Close To The Edge because it was written very badly, just played very well"...

I'm a 14 year old girl and seeing them August 2 in L.A. with either my mom or dad and some friends. Doing the meet and greet. Can anyone tell me what it's like? All I know is that Steve isn't usually there, which is disappointing because I'm a guitar player too

@GuitarMasterizer It's after the show, they make you wait while they take care of the lesser package holders who just get tees and posters. then the group comes out for photos, bring your own camera. then they sit down for autographs and they move you along fairly quickly since it's kinda late and they are obviously tired... you have time for a few small comments during pictures and signing. i'm with you, i always get nervous and can only issue a few words of praise... Be sure to thank them :)

I agree that the vocals are less then desirable although I've seen Benoit twice and he was way better both times. It sounds like they took the echo off his voice and that may be hurting him. Also Adam instead of Oliver would have been a better move. But Steve can still play and he's one of greats; those that play guitar truly appreciate how difficult the licks he plays are and especially with the guitar sound he uses - no distoration to cover up.. Chris is still good

@mmatteo13 Humorously, when I did the meet & greet with Yes last year, I asked Steve for more distortion, "If y'all make an album together, can we get more distortion?" He chuckled. Personally, I'd like to see the dark side of yes with deep dark tones, kind of like how Machine Messiah starts but throughout the song. We shall see, we shall see....
