Greil was voiced by Takashi Nagasako, who was the original voice of Ganondorf. That's how his voice reminded me of that character.
And I agree -- Ike's voice sounded more bland in our versions of Fire Emblem and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I've made fun of his screams when he falls off a stage, and when he flies through the top of the screen (that scream makes me sing, "You are never coming down").
