I grew up playing basketball, baseball and American football but now that I am in my 20's, I X train with b-ball as my primary sport and soccer, running (5 and 10k's mostly), surfing and kayaking as my secondary sports. All of them are helpful, running on hills strengthens your whole lower body, surfing helps your core and blance, kayaing works the upper body and core but if I could only pick one of the four, soccer all the way, it's cardio plus footwork plus teamwork plus fun, just like hoops.

About 90 % of basketball courts in Europe can also be used for playing soccer. Especially in Italy.
