  • on ebay they have 2 copies for sale, both on Downstairs record label.. what's the story?? Thanks!

  • Downstairs Records is a record store in Manhattan, and it's 2 flights up (go figure). The record label Downstairs is a reissue label they owned in the 70s and 80s. The Darchaes is a legal reissue, and the sound quality is pretty good, although it has that weird high end squeal thing that the Relic LPs have. I first discovered this song from a Downstairs copy my friend owned.

  • I LOVE THEM!!!!!!

  • @MRRAY1271 P.J., YOU'RE SO RIGHT SAYING NONE OF THE OTHER SINGERS CAPTURED THE MAGIC OF THE ORIGINAL GROUP. NICK ADDEO BLEMISHED THE NAMD "DARCHAES" ACCORDING TO MANY FANS, COLLECTORS & HISTORIANS. HE ALSO FAILED TO IMPRESS ELLIOT GREENBURG (OWNER OF LAURIE RECORDS) & DOUG MORRIS WHO BECAME PREZ OF ATLANTIC & LATER CEO OF UNIVERSAL.

I TRIED TO HELP HIM MORE THAN ANYONE. THEY SAID HE WAS PIERCING & OFF KEY.. HE JUST NEVER HAD THE REAL GOODS. EVERYONE KNOWS BUT HIM. YOU & THE DARCHAES DO, RAY

  • Thank you for all the compliments. Ray contiues to be a great singer and songwriter and Sal (R.I.P), Louie, Denny and Tony had solid pitch. It was a wonderful time for a bunch of teenagers.

  • @stripemister BARRY "RUFUS" EDWARDS WAS NOT ONLY A GREAT SINGER BUT AN EVEN GREATER PERSON & FRIEND. SOMEONE I FEEL HONORED TO HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF THE "DARCHAES"

WHEN WE NEEDED A GREAT VOICE SUCH AS AT "CONVENTION HALL", "NEPTUNE HIGH PROM" AT SEA GIRT INN WHERE WE APPEARED WITH LENNY WELCH.. THANKS BARRY, RAY R.I.P.

  • @marc777danielle Marc: I would like to take the pleasure to have you know that your father was part of singing the greatest sounding music to one's ear. Also, he and his group will ALWAYS be part of history. One hundred years from now when a kid in high school is ask to do a book report, he/she just may pick Ray & The Darchaes, for their report.

  • I've been looking for the Darling Forever 45 since 1994 and still haven't been able to get it. One of these days I'll come across one

  • @PJDooWop ONLY OTHER "RAY & THE DARCHAES" RECORD BY ORIGINAL MEMBERS IS

"THERE WILL ALWAYS BE" / "DARLING FOREVER" ON BUZZY RECORDS. BEN

WHITE & NICK ADDEO RECORDED WITH THE DARCHAES BUT NEVER

CAPTURED THE MAGIC OF THE ORIGINAL GROUP. SAM SICILIANO, TONY JULIANO, LOUIE SCALPATI, DENNIS TESTA, SAL

CAPALUNGO (R I P), ONLY MEMBER WHO PASSED AWAY, AND RAY DAHROUGE ARE THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS.

  • They have 3 other 45s that I know of. At this time this is the only original Darchaes 45 I have. They also recorded Gloria on the Savoy label (with Nicky Addeo on lead), Darling Forever on the Buzzy's label, and Jocko Sent Me on the Aljon label (with Ben White on lead). There were also a few unreleased things that were put out later on by Ronnie I and I believe some of that made it to CD. I might have a few of those tracks.
