Iris's Christmas Party--Part 1

Iris's Christmas party begins with the arrival of Rachel, Amanda, and Sam. Iris is very much in a party mood, and she tells the others that she's very happy about Dennis and Marley being together. Rachel asks if they should expect an announcement soon, but Iris replies not that she knows of. Sam and Amanda recall their remarriage of almost a year prior. Jamie arrives with Matt and Matt's date for the evening, Brett Gardner, and Matt introduces Brett to Rachel and Iris. Brett is impressed that Matt's family knows the mayor. Matt and Brett discuss Matt's family tree. Rachel asks Iris where Paulina and Jake are, and Iris tells Rachel that they weren't invited. ("My house, my rules.") Rachel reminds Iris that the two of them are already planning Jake's downfall, and although she didn't have anything planned for tonight, they have to handle things with Jake carefully. Iris points out that Paulina wouldn't have expected to be invited, then adds that she already had to make exceptions to the guest list as it was, for Marley, at which point Donna arrives, and first Iris, then Rachel greet her.
