@willcwhite She's great. Exactly what eccentric maiden aunts are like, never any ego or pride involved in their *openly* tall tales. When one has grown up with people like this, the things one remembers best are their stories, for which one has to suspend one's disbelief even just for a moment. Like a child infront of a conjurer! Long after they're gone, one finds oneself telling them to new generations, with a little addition here and there of course. Like patchwork.
@willcwhite totally agree. I think a lot of Clarissa's tales are quite tall really. Some of them are just variants of urban myths. Jennifer is just effortlessly eccentric and hilarious.
@PennyDreadfuI Yes, they are very costly here, too. A turkey is about 70 USD, also. I've been told NO GOOSE by the spouse. I do hope to buy a pig head when I am well enough to get to the market again, if I can get one with the brain and tongue intact. Finally found some videos about how to do them and to make charcuterie! xo
@CuteCatFaith I made a goose last Christmas using a recipe from Gordon Ramsay. It was delicious, but it was also $70US for a 10 pounder. It produced around 4 cups of fat. I was astonished. I saved it and used it for a number of other things. The goose was scored and rubbed with Chinese 5 spice. It seasoned the fat, but it was a wonderful addition.
Had to see this again. For a family of only two in France, so much is "too much food." I've got to try this, though, and render that precious fat! I'm planning to learn canning and there's just got to be something I could do with all this goose besides just dividing it into portions and freezing it. We don't entertain, so there you go. Thank you for this. Uprated again!
