From state of the art entertainment technology, the iPhone and iPod Touch are now becoming instruments of prayer and meditation thanks to the iBreviary, an application created by a parish priest from the Diocese of Tortona, Fr. Paolo Padrini."With a simple text on the touchpad of the iPhone or the iPod Touch, I have an application that brings me directly to the current day and gives me the opportunity to pray through the Catholic Breviary, with divided categories of Office of Readings, Lauds , Mid-day Prayer, Vespers, Compline. Besides this, I can always read the text in the usual way, or and in "rotating landscape" mode (which is a feature of iPhone), to browse the page of the Mass with the readings of the day and of course the other main Catholic prayers."The iBreviary is currently available in 6 languages, including Italian- in both Roman and Ambrosian rites, English, Latin, French and Spanish"With this, I can make my phone become a place and a means of prayer. Too often, we think of prayer as only a habitual act. I start to read a text and I finish reading a text. Prayer becomes reading. Instead, prayer should be a time when I encounter God in relationship. So, this tool isn't meant to merely reproduce a text for me, but to help me make a moment of prayer; it becomes a kind of parenthesis in the middle of my everyday life.""From a gadget to play with, to an instrument for instant, often simplistic and superficial relationships, to a tool that can become a kind of channel for entering the depths of prayer- which are the depths of relationship between God and man." www.dimix.it/ibreviary
