Richard Bonynge conducting here. This piece is a ballet in an operetta called "Lysistrata" by Paul Lincke. It became popular, so the legend goes, by virtue of Pavlova's dancing it and the music then entered the popular domain as "Glow-worm".

  • This is for geniuses and madmen alike.

  • I have the operatic score for this piece! I recently found it in my great-grandmother's house, and it has a picture of Pavlova on the cover!

  • Heard this on Classic FM and am now in love with this piece!

  • A vocal version called 'Glowworm' and recorded by the Mills Brothers was very popular in the 1930s/1940s.

  • @royneedham64 this is just an orchestral piece; youve probably got it mixed up with something else :)

  • Does anyone have the words to this, which I seem to remember hearing many years ago?
