This is the translation I made of the conversation between the Captain of Costa Concordia Francesco Schettino, and the Captain of the Coast Guard of Livorno, Commander De Falco. This conversation happened at 1:46 a.m. and is the third and the most shameful of the three (official) conversation that they had. Schettino abandoned the ship with some of his officials, without taking care of his passenger and crew, that were still trapped on the boat and refuse get back on board.

N.B. By clicking on the cc button, you can access the translation menù, and you can translate the captions in any language you would like to!

CC -- Translate Captions -- Choose the language you prefer.

This is a youtube built-in processing service so I don't know if the translation will be correct or not (quality is similar to google trad i guess).

  • @Stronzy89 Thank you for your work in posting these translations which are the best I have seen. This is the first time I have seen the interactive transcript. Very helpful. The whole world knows that Italian heroes responded that night, from your Coast Guard to the people of Giglio, to some of the humblest crew members, among the passengers, and many others. Italy is greater than one coward. I am an American offering condolences on this tragedy. Italy has much to be proud of! Thank you!

  • @bluwaters Thank you mate! I'm doing my best but some translations are still pretty incorrect! Anyway, thank you for the kind words and for posting your personal opinion: i really appreciate what you wrote, especially because it shows you have understood perfectly the situation!

p.s. There are some version saying that Schettino was on board until the very end of the emergency procedure, and some others saying he was already on the mainland. Truth will come up after the inquiry!

  • It's the first conversation between Schettino and Commander De Falco

  • @giusty23 nope, sorry but i have to correct you: this is the third conversation, 1.46 a.m.

  • this is disgraceful...

I can't believe anybody could be such a coward and manipulator or words/actions.

Schettino has no sense of responsibility even though it seems he is the sole cause of the incident.

  • Stronzy89 you did well on the translation I thank you for doing this video. But I want the world to know that every country has its cowards. It just so happens that this coward made headlines around that world. Another blow to us Italians.

  • @rodbastos I double checked every single information before I wrote the description: chek ansa.it, corriere.it, repubblica.it or whatever you prefer. Standing on their riconstruction this is actually the last phone conversation between Coast Guard and Cruise Ship Costa Concordia.

  • Does anyone know when Schettino left the ship?

  • SCARY !!!!

  • wow!terrible, he just refuse to go back on board!coward!

  • Fuckin SNAP!
