@margolou2010 I was in touch with Dick during his cancer treatments.I was going thru the exact same thing-we helped each other out.He is one of the most down to earth persons I,ve ever dealt with.I think he,s still having some problems but nothins ever gonna keep him off the stage.

@girlycajun Ha yes indeed, I totally agree with you. He may have used the MELODY of a traditional Greek song, he still turned it into a kickass guitar song, aka Dick Dale's song. The difference between the traditional song and DD at the one hand, and between DD and BEP on the other had is that DD created a new unique song, based on a traditional song, and BEP just used this exact same song ... slight difference.

So he took a traditional Greek song and turned it into a California dream...the man is a guitar genius. As for the Black Eyed Peas, they were flattering him and Miserlou. Stop this bickering. No one can touch Dick Dale.

The man is in his seventies and at the time of this video was getting treatments for cancer. Hope he beat it, that was three years ago. I agree by the way with one of the comments. It would have been fascinating to hear the Black Eyed Peas do "Miserlou" in the traditional Greek way, with maybe some hip hop thrown in, maybe a little bit of Middle East flavor too. They could have made it kickin'

@AmarisGrey Yes, but Dick Dale is the father of "surf style". Why didn't the black eyed p.'s make a new version, they're version, or why didn't they use the original greek version, now that would have been interesting :)))). Stop f....g steeling and be creative for goodnes sake, make you're own music, and then you will be appreciated.

what a nasty miserable old c**t-great tune though

But Dick Dale didn't write this song. It's actually a traditional Greek folk song that is well over one hundred years old. He may have made it popular, but he didn't create it. I don't think he even technically owns the rights to it, but since the original writer is more than likely long since dead, asking permission to use it is kind of moot.
Basically my point is that the Black Eyed Peas may have used this song to gain fans and/or popularity, but so did Dick Dale.

dick dale did this song first, so black eyed peas was quoting him, so that right there cancels ur whole comment, thumbs down dumbass
