Dogs for the disabled and Support Dogs both in the UK can supply registered assistance dogs to assist children with autism

As an Autism Support Dog trainer, I get frustrated with the lack of support that these dogs recognize. It gets old having to hear...is that a seeing eye dog?? Sigh...Just so you know, I AM fighting for change, and I am seeing it happen. My main problem is getting my name out there. I am a small private school for service dogs of all types and I just don't have the millions to drop into advertising. I wish I could help more, but the few who find me sure are fun to work with. I wish you the best.

First ask yourself if your disability interferes enough with your daily life that you can benefit from a service dog. Afterwards, you'll have to choose whether you want to train your dog yourself, or if you want someone else to do it. Some orgs offer dogs for free, and some you'll have to pay or help pay for (service dogs can cost US$15000 or more to train).

I'm trying to get an Autism Assistance Dog,but I'm not sure where to look or how much it costs.

Saint Bonaventure Church in Allegany,NY has refused to meet my 14 year old autistic (Asperger's) son's request for inclusion in its religious education program, in spite of prior agreeing to follow an individualized religious education plan created by the Diocese of Buffalo. Beacon of Compassion?!?!

I have't gone to find out more about it but I have been told I qualify for what is called a Service or sometimes called a Social Dog, which woud be a dog that would help me to not get lost and also to let me know if a person approaching and talking to me is someone I know or not. I will likely have to find out about this if anything ever happens to my friend John (who in addition to being a very good friend also helps me with exactly those same things).

Another great video. What is the program your running? The US I'm afraid is as bad as the UK when it comes to dogs. At least you guys have NAS and not ASA.
sorry that you have the same problem with support dogs in the us. it should change there too. infact it should change everywhere. autism is global

I had a message back from the Nas today saying if i told the shops we visit about Autism And Daniel they might understand and let his dog in. In my experience shops
show little awareness to people with Autism even when i have explained about Daniel when they have complained to me about Daniel touching things etc. but it wont hurt trying.
