If I say there are purple gremlins an nebulisio which is a planet 500 trillion light years from earth you, and no one else, has to be agnostic about that claim. You can't prove it isn't true, that doesn't mean you must posses all knowledge of all planets to say it's bullshit, because it is bullshit.

No there is no burden. If it is impossible to prove something does exist, and is impossible to prove it doesn't, the default is to say it doesn't exist, because even if it did for all intents and purposes it doesn't.

It takes no hubris to claim there is no god, and it actually takes no knowledge of any shape or form to say claim it either.

@johndaddyo444 No. They're not. an agnostic is someone who take the possibility of god and no god the same. Just because something can't be disproven, like god or unicorns or ghosts, doesn't mean I have to take it seriosly as something can be proven like evolution, or gravity or relativity.

I don't treat everything that isn't disproven the same I treat things that are proven therefore I am not agnostic but an atheist.

It is impossible to prove that there is no God. This is the atheist's burden. To attempt to assert that there is no God is the height of hubris; one would first need to possess the combined knowledge of the entire universe. Otherwise, God could exist just outside of the atheist's sphere of knowledge, thereby making a liar out of the atheist. Atheism simply isn't an intellectually honest belief system. Agnostic, yes. Atheism, no. Most atheists I know are actually agnostics.

@CharlesOberonn I said ignorant, which is an accurate assessment of someone who knows little about God, nor about religion. Stupid is another matter altogether... stupid is not ignorant: it is choosing to remain ignorant rather than choosing to learn. It is also having no capacity to learn. I rarely call people stupid. I tend to reserve that name for those who attempt to bully others, while remaining intentionally ignorant themselves.
