i can remember listening to this like you say and just wondering how in the hell do you play something like it!! It is such a great tune and transports me to a different time and place at times as well. I'm playing it in open D.
thanks for you kind words and sharing music.....all the best!

Holy mackeral there guy! I was appreciative of your Chicago 'Beginnings' tutorial but this is really awesome! When we were banging around hopelessly on our guitars back in the day and this song would come on by the Allmans, it would just take me to another place. Not much has changed since '72! You got it going on! I assume (maybe I missed it in the comments and responses) this is in open E? This is just great. I was going to buy another Martin soon but that Collins sounds beautiful.

Man I really like how this guitar sounds in your hands. Congratulations!!!
nice...
it took me months to get this song down...
I never did get the 6th string bass timing right, though...
looks like you nailed it...
You would like The Water Song by Yorma off the Hot Tuna's Burgers album...

Hey Dale, what is your preferred type of strings? I like the tone and I am trying to select similar for my far less expensive guitar.

lately i've been using Martin strings and i really like them. I switch between a few of them, but mainly the 80/20s. I think all of their strings are good just maybe some subtle differences and their prices are better than some!
thanks for your question and all the best with your music,
dale
