technically very good! i only think the pedal should have crescendo and decrescendo too in each arpegio. not down all the time like almost all records and interpretations..

Yes. Yes. Yes! YES! This man is a champion -- no doubt about it.
This performance is even better than the one he recorded live in Italy. Technically, it compares very well with Backhaus, Pollini, Ashkenazy and all the other greats.
Old Vladimir de Pachmann's rendition was more interesting. He took it a more leisurely pace, and found all manner of wonderful inner voices, while Cortot played it with more elegance and less aggression -- but also less accuracy.
Thanks for posting this stunning performance of the etude. With all the amazing playing of it I've found on Youtube, I must say this is the most convincing performance musically, with a virtuoso flow second to none.
His tempo is the best in my opinion, because it enables Russo to find a miraculous sense of breath within it.
