  • you had the good racks, most of the racks in the navy dont have the extra space by the head, it's flat all the way across

  • isit air conditioned? where do you have a bath and change? sleeping shifts are 8 hours?

  • When I was in, the head (or bathroom) was very close, but you still had to traverse public spaces to get to them. Ours was not air conditioned and I had the exhaust ducts from the aft emergency diesel run right above my rack. When we were in the gulf, I had to leave my curtain open so my rack wouldn't get above 120 degrees. On the opposite, we did have heating but it wasn't the greatest. When we were off the coast of Alaska one winter, I had to wear a coat to bed.

  • wow you're lucky with all that head room.

  • Wow...berthing area, huh? In my day it was just a rack.

  • I lived in a navy berthing as they call it it's pretty comfortable but the head room in our racks were kinda close and yea theres AC dang it was cold and our bathrooms/changing rooms were close to our berthing and we got a good amount of sleep time

  • Intresting, was it a fun experience?
