I see your point but I cannot fully second your opinion.
Your assumption to use 8 at the end is not backed up by quantum gravity. However the rest of your theory is quite sound.

I see a few minor mistakes here as well... for example I said "once you make the two folds.. these three cancel out these three"... I think the cancellation happens on the first fold not the second regardless if it is along the horizonal or vertical axis what do you think?
