I wish her phrasing and diction were this clear today. I think if she loses some weight she will ssound a lot better.

This is very nice, but her original (with Columbia) is absolutely, to die for, superbbbb. Don't bother wondering, her interpretations have laid me back for years now!!

Aretha does a wonderful job here. Billie would be proud!

I LOVE YOU

@yaskam leave the since billie, aretha kicks ass!

@blundred2 I totally disagree that this song "should not be touched". This song is my life theme song by Miss Billie. But it "has to be touched" by others, because it's meaning is so transcending. (note: I know this comment is 1 year old. lol)

I like this version more than Billy Hollidays. Both are great but Aretha has got it all.

She can sing anything, brilliant rendition by the one and only Queen of Soul.
THE QUEEN pays tribute to THE LADY.
Janis JOPLIN: "Aretha is the best chick singer since Billie Holiday.
John HAMMOND: "Aretha as "the greatest voice since billie holiday'".
Dick CLARCK: "She wasn't Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday or anybody else. She was, and is ... Aretha".
Marc Anthony NEAL: "Like Smith and Holiday, Franklin infused public narratives of black and militancy, with nuanced demands for human respect and human decency".
